<\/p>\nMario Mazzer es el responsable de uno de los iconos de la firma Bonaldo, el perchero Tree. Hablamos con \u00e9l para que nos cuente sus sensaciones sobre el mundo del dise\u00f1o de mobiliario, novedades e inspiraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Mazzer naci\u00f3 en 1955, en Italia. Desde joven le atrajo el mundo de la arquitectura y el dise\u00f1o as\u00ed que inici\u00f3 estudios en ambos campos de los que se gradu\u00f3 en Mil\u00e1n en los a\u00f1os 1978 y 1979. Trabaj\u00f3 con grandes maestros y tiempo despu\u00e9s cre\u00f3 su propio estudio desde donde dirige proyectos de arquitectura a nivel internacional y de dise\u00f1o de productos.<\/p>\n

OcioHogar (OH): \u00bfQu\u00e9 le hizo convertirse en dise\u00f1ador de productos y de mobiliario?<\/strong><\/p>\n Mario Mazzer (MM): Decid\u00ed dedicarme a esta profesi\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de ver la cervecer\u00eda Splugenbrau dise\u00f1ada por Achille Castiglioni. La atm\u00f3sfera y la habilidad para controlar los espacios me fascinaron.<\/p>\n OH: \u00bfQu\u00e9 necesita un dise\u00f1o para ser un \u00e9xito?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: No soy mago, as\u00ed que no lo puedo decir. Solo soy un artesano de la est\u00e9tica que, con amor y dedicaci\u00f3n, intenta dar respuestas a soluciones concretas. A veces, al mercado le gustan estas soluciones y se convierten en un \u00e9xito y, otras veces ocurre lo contrario.<\/p>\n OH: De entre todos sus dise\u00f1os, \u00bfcu\u00e1l es su producto favorito?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: \u00bfPuedo decir que en el que estoy trabajando ahora? Tal vez porque representar\u00e1 c\u00f3mo soy ahora. OH: \u00bfCu\u00e1l es su fuente de inspiraci\u00f3n? \u00bfD\u00f3nde encuentra estas fuentes?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: El arte y el dise\u00f1o son formas de expresi\u00f3n que pueden agarrar hasta la m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a pizca de cambios en la vida y transformarla en objetos. Encuentro la inspiraci\u00f3n en la naturaleza, historia, arte y en el amor por la vida. Esto son consideraciones generales pero cada proyecto viene de algo especial que ha desatado mi imaginaci\u00f3n y con lo que pinto una nueva idea.<\/p>\n OH: \u00bfC\u00f3mo es un d\u00eda normal de trabajo para usted?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: Cuando no estoy viajando, llego a la oficina a las 7 de la ma\u00f1ana porque todav\u00eda no hay nadie all\u00ed y puedo concentrarme y pensar tranquilamente. Despu\u00e9s, de 9 de la ma\u00f1ana a 9 de la noche tengo reuniones con mis colaboradores. \u00bfEst\u00e1 claro que me apasiona este maldito<\/em> trabajo?<\/p>\n OH: En su opini\u00f3n, \u00bfcu\u00e1l va ser el mueble estrella o best-seller de la pr\u00f3xima temporada?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: Prefiero no contestar porque realmente es dif\u00edcil decir alguno. Hoy en d\u00eda hay muchos productos excelentes.<\/p>\n OH: \u00bfC\u00f3mo ve el futuro del dise\u00f1o de muebles?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: El mundo del dise\u00f1o de mobiliario es muy diferente al de dise\u00f1o de moda. Lleva mucho tiempo ir de la fase conceptual a la de comercializaci\u00f3n del producto.\u00a0 El dise\u00f1o de muebles es una disciplina m\u00faltiple ya que afecta todas las \u00e1reas de la casa y puedes acercarte con distintos estilos y construcciones. As\u00ed que no hay una \u00fanica tendencia sino varias propuestas que reflejan diferentes formas de vivir la casa.<\/p>\n OH: \u00bfPara qu\u00e9 empresa le gustar\u00eda trabajar?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: Creo que todos los dise\u00f1adores desear\u00edan trabajar para empresas que han dejado huella en la historia del dise\u00f1o como Vitra.<\/p>\n OH: Usted ha ganado recientemente el premio Good Design Award 2014 por Yuki. \u00bfC\u00f3mo ha afectado este premio a su carrera?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: Dise\u00f1o porque me gusta que se disfrute de la est\u00e9tica de aquellos que viven mi arquitectura o usan mis muebles. Pero no dise\u00f1o un objeto pensando en ganar un premio, as\u00ed que cuando esto pasa me siento gratificado. Primero, porque puede ayudar a la parte comercial de la empresa que ha cre\u00eddo en tus productos y, adem\u00e1s, porque es la confinaci\u00f3n del camino que se ha tomado. Pero estas recompensas no influyen en mi profesi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n OH: \u00bfCu\u00e1l es el premio m\u00e1s importante que ha recibido en su carrera?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: He ganado varios Red Dot Awards, IF Awards y Good Design Awards, pero el m\u00e1s importante es el Young Design Award (para j\u00f3venes promesas) que gan\u00e9 en 1991 porque fue el primero y el que me hizo convencerme de que realmente pod\u00eda hacer este trabajo.<\/p>\n OH: \u00bfPuede contarnos un poco sobre aquello en lo que est\u00e1 trabajando actualmente? \u00bfCu\u00e1les van a ser sus pr\u00f3ximos productos?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: Mi oficina trabaja tanto arquitectura como dise\u00f1o. Actualmente, estoy trabajando en muchos proyectos sobre todo de dise\u00f1o de productos. Estamos dise\u00f1ando sacacorchos profesionales y decantadores de vino para una marca importante. En dise\u00f1o de mobiliario estamos creando varios nuevos productos que suponen muchos colaboradores en la oficina.<\/p>\n OH: Nosotros vendemos su perchero Tree para Bonaldo. \u00bfPuede contarnos un poco m\u00e1s sobre el proceso de dise\u00f1o o la fuente de inspiraci\u00f3n?<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: La idea es evidente hasta en el nombre del producto: un \u00e1rbol desnudo, con hojas de m\u00faltiples colores formadas por los abrigos y ropa que se cuelgue. La forma funcional se cre\u00f3 para facilitar el proceso de moldeo rotacional. Se trata de un icono de Bonaldo que ha tenido un gran \u00e9xito internacional.<\/p>\n OH: Si no fuera dise\u00f1ador, ser\u00eda\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n MM: Empec\u00e9 como artesano, despu\u00e9s me convert\u00ed en arquitecto y dise\u00f1ador, as\u00ed que pienso que tengo buena capacidad espacial y creatividad. Me hubiera gustado ser m\u00fasico o trabajar en finanzas creativas, pero diferentes a las que se est\u00e1n llevando hoy en d\u00eda. Pero no tengo buena predisposici\u00f3n para estos campos.<\/p>\n En profundidad:<\/strong><\/p>\n a.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Un color: Me gustan los colores en todas sus variaciones y combinaciones crom\u00e1ticas. Por eso suelo usar frecuentemente el blanco, que es la suma de todos los colores en suma aditiva y el negro que es la suma de los colores primarios en s\u00edntesis substractiva.<\/p>\n b.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Un material: la madera, porque es un material vivo<\/p>\n c.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Un dise\u00f1ador al que admire: Mis ra\u00edces est\u00e1n en el pensamiento de Eames y en la iron\u00eda de A. Castiglioni<\/p>\n d.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Un mueble que le inspire: Demasiados para elegir solo uno. Me he inspirado en muchas piezas maestras<\/p>\n e.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Su lugar favorito de la casa: La terraza porque es la extensi\u00f3n de mi casa en la ciudad y la vegetaci\u00f3n<\/p>\n f.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0Un lugar donde vivir: Italia es un lugar precioso para vivir. En Espa\u00f1a, me encanta Ibiza, donde paso los veranos cada a\u00f1o y donde podr\u00eda vivir gran parte de mi vida.<\/p>\n ___________________________________________________________<\/p>\n Mario Mazzer is the designer of one of the icons of Bonaldo: Tree coat stand. We talk to him, to know his opinions about furniture design, novelties and inspirations.<\/p>\n Mazzer was born in 1955, in Italy. Since he was young, he was attracted to architecture and design so he studied both careers at university where he graduated in 1978 and 1979. He has worked with some of the masters of his time, and some years after, he created his own studio where he manages international architecture projects and products design.<\/p>\n OcioHogar (OH): What made you decide to become a furniture and product designer?<\/p>\n Mario Mazzer (MM): I decided to take up this profession after seeing the Splugenbrau brewery designed by Achille Castiglioni. That atmosphere, that ability to control the space fascinated me.<\/p>\n OH: What needs a design to become a success?<\/p>\n MM: I am not a magician so I cannot tell. I’m just an artisan of aesthetics that, with love and dedication, tries to give answers with concrete solutions. Sometimes the market likes these solutions so they become a success and sometimes that does not happen.<\/p>\n OH: Among all your designs, which is your favourite product?<\/p>\n MM: Can I tell you that it\u2019s the one I’m working on? Maybe because it will represent the way I am now. Among the objects I\u2019ve designed in the past, one of my favourites is Clino table that I designed for Magis in 1984 (which will be re-edited) because it is the perfect combination of function, form and movement. Another product I really like is Rita, the chair produced by Zanotta.<\/p>\n OH: Which is your source of inspiration? Where do you find those sources?<\/p>\n MM: Art and design are forms of expression able to grasp even the smallest hint of change in life and turn them into objects. I find inspiration from nature, history, art and love for life. These are general considerations but every project comes from something special that triggered the inspiration to draw a new idea.<\/p>\n OH: How is a normal business day for you?<\/p>\n MM: When I am not traveling I arrive at the office at 7 am because there is still no one so I can concentrate and think serenely. From 9 am till 9 pm I have continuous checks with my collaborators. Is it clear that I love this damn job?<\/p>\n OH: In your opinion, which is going to be the star or best-seller piece of furniture this season?<\/p>\n MM: I prefer not answering because it is really difficult to say it. Today there are many excellent products.<\/p>\n OH: How do you see the future of furniture design?<\/p>\n MM: The world of furniture design is very different from fashion design. It takes a very long time from the concept phase to the commercialization of a product. Furniture design is a cross-discipline that affects all areas of the house with different stylistic and constructive approaches. So, there is not one single trend but proposals that reflect different ways of living the house.<\/p>\n OH: With which company would you like to work for?<\/p>\n MM: I think every designer would like to work for the companies that left a mark in the history of design such as Vitra.<\/p>\n OH: You have recently won the Good Design Award in 2014 for Yuki. How has this award affected your career?<\/p>\n MM: I design because I like to give aesthetic pleasure to those who live my architecture or use my pieces of furniture. I don\u2019t design an object in order to win a prize, but when this happens I am gratified. First, because it can help the commercial side of the company that has believed in the product, furthermore because it is also a confirmation of the path that has been taken. But rewards do not influence my profession.<\/p>\n OH: Which is the most important award that you have received in your career?<\/p>\n MM: I won several Red Dot awards, IF awards, Good Design awards, but the most important is the Young Design Award I won in 1991 because it was the first one and made me realize I could do this job.<\/p>\n OH: Could you tell us a little bit about your work in progress? Which are going to be your next products?<\/p>\n MM: My office deals with architecture and design. Currently we are working on many projects, particularly in product design. We are designing professional corkscrews and wine decanter for an important brand. In furniture design we are designing many new products and these involve many collaborators in the office.<\/p>\n OH: We sell your coat stand Tree by Bonaldo. Could you tell us more about its design process or your source of inspiration?<\/p>\n MM: The idea is evident even in the name of the product: a bare tree with multi-colored foliage made out of the hanging coats. The functional form was created to facilitate the rotational molding. It\u2019s an icon for Bonaldo as well as a great international success.<\/p>\n OH: If you weren\u2019t designer, you would be\u2026<\/p>\n MM: I started as an artist then I became an architect and designer, therefore I think I have an aptitude for space control and creativity. I would have liked to be a musician or work in creative finance, different from the one carried out today. But I have no predisposition to these fields.<\/p>\n In depth:<\/p>\n a.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A color: I love color in all its variations and chromatic combinations. That\u2019s why I often use white, which is the sum of all the colors in the additive synthesis and black which is the sum of all primary colors in subtractive synthesis.<\/p>\n b.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A material: Wood because is a living material<\/p>\n c.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0A designer you admire: My roots are in the thinking of Eames and the irony of A. Castiglioni,<\/p>\n d.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0An inspiring piece of furniture: Too many to choose just one product.
