Sin m\u00e1s pre\u00e1mbulos, a continuaci\u00f3n puedes disfrutar de ella.<\/p>\n Estudi\u00e9 arquitectura. Empec\u00e9 a dise\u00f1ar muebles como un hobby y un reto. Le\u00ed sobre un concurso en una revista de dise\u00f1o y me fascin\u00f3 el tema y el desaf\u00edo de presentar una idea para un producto en 3 meses. No ten\u00eda ninguna idea preconcebida de lo que deb\u00eda ser el objeto. Ten\u00eda total libertad para seguir mis instintos y aportar algo a la conversaci\u00f3n.\u00a0 Gan\u00e9 el concurso y le tom\u00e9 el gusto al dise\u00f1o. La cuesti\u00f3n de lo que tengo que aportar a un determinado tipo de mobiliario siempre ha sido mi motivaci\u00f3n para dise\u00f1ar.<\/em><\/p>\n El \u00e9xito puede medirse de diferentes maneras. Para el productor y el minorista, se mide por el n\u00famero de unidades vendidas. Pero un buen art\u00edculo puede tener un \u00e9xito inmediato o un arranque lento. Sin embargo, para m\u00ed como dise\u00f1ador, se trata de c\u00f3mo el producto final cumple su funci\u00f3n de la forma m\u00e1s sencilla, eficiente y est\u00e9tica posible.<\/em><\/p>\n Esta es una pregunta muy dif\u00edcil. Todos mis productos son como mis hijos. A un padre le resulta dif\u00edcil nombrar a su hijo favorito, ya que cada uno tiene su m\u00e9rito. Sin embargo, uno de mis preferidos recientes es mi silla de madera contrachapada llamada <\/em>Sketch.<\/em> Lleva todo el sello de mi pr\u00e1ctica de dise\u00f1o: una combinaci\u00f3n de imaginaci\u00f3n, sencillez y funcionalidad. <\/em><\/p>\n Se trata de un sill\u00f3n hecho de 4 elementos iguales de madera contrachapada curvada que se ensamblan como un puzle para formar la silla. Como todas las piezas son iguales, el coste de producci\u00f3n se reduce. Al ser f\u00e1cilmente ensamblable, puede venderse en un paquete plano para ser montado por el usuario. Recientemente ha sido adquirida por el Museo de Dise\u00f1o de Vitra para su colecci\u00f3n permanente.<\/em><\/p>\n Se dice que Pablo Picasso dijo una vez que nunca buscas ideas, sino que las encuentras. La afirmaci\u00f3n no es tan pomposa como puede parecer a primera vista. Es una expresi\u00f3n de la tranquilidad de admitir que estamos influenciados por cualquier cosa y por todo lo que nos rodea. Las ideas est\u00e1n en todas partes. Solo tenemos que estar en un estado de \u00e1nimo que nos permita recibirlas. <\/em><\/p>\n Mi cuaderno de bocetos de confianza y mi tel\u00e9fono m\u00f3vil son mis compa\u00f1eros constantes. Registro el objeto ordinario y cotidiano, anal\u00f3gico y digital. Veo las gemas de las ideas en los materiales, la forma, el color, la luz y la sombra, a menudo aparentemente sin rumbo. Estas grabaciones y anotaciones forman temas, la columna vertebral de cualquier idea. <\/em><\/p>\n Comienzo el d\u00eda con un trote de 5 km cada ma\u00f1ana. Luego leo los peri\u00f3dicos con un caf\u00e9 en la mano. I started designing furniture as a hobby and a challenge. I read about a competition in a design magazine and was fascinated by the topic and the challenge to come up with an idea for a product within 3 months. I had no preconception of what the product should be. I was totally free to follow my instincts and add something to the conversation!\u00a0 I won the competition and got the taste for designing. The question of what I have to contribute to a certain type of furniture has always been my motivation for designing.<\/em><\/p>\n Success can be measured in different ways. For the producer and the retailer, it is measured in how many units are sold. But a good product can be either an immediate success, or a slow starter. For me as a designer however, it is how the end product fulfils its function as simply, as efficiently and as aesthetically pleasing as possible<\/em><\/p>\n This is a very difficult question. All my products are like my children. A parent is hard pressed to name his or her favourite child, as each child has its merit! However, one of my recent favourites is my Plywood chair called Sketch<\/strong>. It bears all the hallmarks of my design practice: A marriage of Imagination, Simplicity and Functionality. It is an armchair, made of 4 equal bent plywood elements which are assembled like a puzzle to form the chair. Because all the parts are equal, the production cost is reduced. Because it is easily assembled, it can be sold as flat-packed to be assembled by the user. It has been recently acquired by Vitra Design Museum for their permanent collection.<\/em><\/p>\n Picasso is quoted as having once said that he never looks for ideas, he finds them.\u00a0 The statement is not as pompous as it may first appear. It is an expression of the meekness to admit that we are influenced by anything and everything around us. Ideas are everywhere. We just need to be in a state of mind to receive them. My trusted sketchbook and my mobile phone are my constant companions. I record the ordinary, everyday object, analog and digital. I see the gems of ideas in materials, form, colour, light and shade often seemingly aimlessly. These recordings and annotations form themes, the backbone of any idea.<\/em><\/p>\n I start the day with a 5 km jog every morning. Then I read the newspapers with a coffee in hand. The rest of the day is either spent in the studio drawing or making models, or at the University where I teach part time as a Professor for Architectural design.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n Apart from the omnipresent theme of sustainability, I hope there will be room for different perspectives and ideas of what design can be!<\/em><\/p>\n Satyendra Pakhale.<\/em><\/p>\n I would have been either a dancer or a photographer!
